Job Description:

Terraformation is hiring a Copywriter for Social Media and Web to help develop and expand its brand voice across its communication platforms. As a key part of the Communications department, the Copywriter will report to the Senior Content Strategist and collaborate cross-functionally with all members of the team.

They will be responsible for writing engaging, informative, and shareable posts across Terraformation’s social channels with the goal of growing our digital footprint. This person will also support with occasional writing for the website, including articles on Terraformation’s blog.


Responsibilities & Expectations: 

  • Develop and execute a consistent brand voice across social media platforms that educates and inspires audiences to join in Terraformation’s mission of solving climate change

  • Write and edit daily posts for each of Terraformation’s social media channels (currently Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn)

  • Identify opportunities to communicate around news and research on reforestation, carbon sequestration, and climate change (for example, the recent IPCC and State of the World’s Trees reports)

  • Spearhead community engagement; this includes moderating and responding to social media messages and identifying other opportunities to engage with users across platforms on behalf of Terraformation

  • Collaborate with Communications team members on creating long and short-form digital content that translates complex issues into digestible, interesting posts for general audiences


Requirements:

  • 3+ years of brand copywriting experience, ideally at a startup

  • Experience shaping the tone and voice of a brand across multiple digital channels

  • Deep understanding of mainstream and emerging social channels

  • Strong writing and editing skills; knowledge of AP Style a plus

  • Knowledgeable and passionate about natural climate change solutions, particularly reforestation

  • A willingness to contribute to climate conversations happening on social media and other online platforms

  • Adept at describing complex scientific topics in straightforward terms for global audiences

  • Commitment to accuracy

  • Experience tracking success through engagement rates, growth statistics, reader responses, and other metrics
